Week 3- Paris, France

Last week in Paris
Sunday June 29th, 2014
Sunday Funday was going amazing until Mexico lost..#NoEraPenal (I’m still not over it lol)
A selfie while waiting for the tram. We headed out to do some shopping since SOLDES began and we just couldn’t help ourselves!

Again tacos and margaritas! We went to see the Mexico game here and I was super excited! The world cup is always such an exciting time and everyone in the world can relate to this! It’s crazy to think how one sport can unite so many people. I had my Mexico flag and supporting them 110%!

After the game, we headed to the Eiffel Tower to see the sunset and just try to forget about the loss.

Orgullosamente Mexicana 🙂

Enjoyed a picture perfect evening under the Eiffel Tower eating ice cream and riding the carousal.

Today, as a class we went on a corporate visit to France 24.
France 24 and learning about them was inspiring. My past experience in the television world helped me understand how they function a bit more but worldwide news versus local television is very different. Hard news and real journalism is a job that takes dedication and true passion because you live and breathe news. I found it so inspiring to see the passion in these reporters, journalists and personnel who are constantly working but do it with so much joy.

We had dinner at one of this cute restaurant that our professor recommended.
We sat upstairs and had a great view.
and of course accompanied by a glass of Rose.

Such a beautiful view! Can you spot the Eiffel Tower?
So happy. Being able to live your dream to study and live abroad is beyond me. I am so thankful to have this opportunity. Especially to be living in one of my favorite cities, the inspiration I receive from Paris just puts a huge smile on my face. And yes I miss my family so much but being able to go and think about yourself, your dreams, your goals puts life into perspective. Being somewhat disconnected from technology (I have my phone only when there’s wifi) is liberating. Living in the moment and truly savoring life is fascinating.
Laduree

Macaron obsessed

We ended our night by stopping by the famous Laduree. Best macarons that you will ever taste. Endless amounts of books, reviews, and blogs will explain to you how delicious they are!

Our morning began at the farmers market near our school. I am completely obsessed with flowers, but peonies are my absolute favorite. ADORE! They are just so gorgeous.

Farmers Market and Palace of Versailles
After class and our walking tour we headed off to Palace of Versailles. By the time we got there we were beyond exhausted since it took us 2 hours! We were lost on the RER (the other metro-like system in Paris). A man gave us the wrong directions and we were heading the wrong direction and realized it 30 minutes later. Lesson learned: do not ask for directions when in doubt study the maps.
We had visited the Palace the first week that we were in Paris, but the gardens weren’t open by the time we finished visiting the Palace. We came straight to the gardens and went rowing! It was so much fun! Although I have to say, rowing was definitely not my thing. I had my friends do all the rowing. I am just not coordinated enough lol
Hey, at least I tried 🙂

Ended the night by the Eiffel Tower.

Corporate visits!
Today, we had back to back corporate visits. We visited Edelman PR and Havas, which is also a public relations company. Again these corporate visits are so helpful and give you insight on the company, their culture and you feel inspired by hearing all these presentations. Also the fact that we can ask and get to know some of the personnel enhances the experience.
After the corporate visits we went back to Cite Universitaire and just relaxed before heading out to dinner.
Grazie, you were my favorite restaurant in Paris. I am completely devoted and in love with your cocktails. YES! If you are ever in Paris these 12 euro cocktails are well worth the price.

 Basil Honey Cocktail
Diva Pizza, and yes I finished it all!

Happy 4th of JULY!
Spent the morning with MSL Group. Another inspiring PR company who gave us such an informative presentation.

Our last day in Paris. Time passed by so fast and it was more magical than I had imagined. After the corporate visit I ran some errands and decided to spend today on my own to reflect and just soak in my last day in Paris.
I headed over to Gallery Lafayette which is an enormous mall in Paris.

This view was from the top terrace.

After spending about an hour at the mall I headed over to Musee D’Orsay where they had a Van Gogh exhibition. Attending a museum by yourself is the BEST experience ever. I walked in and was in awe with it. This museum used to be a train station and was converted into a modern art museum in 1986.

Van Gogh Exhibition

In the 3 weeks that I have been living in Paris the RER has never been this empty.

I was a little freaked out lol.

I decided to head over to the Four Seasons hotel for a drink and to see their floral arrangements. And let me tell you they lived up to my expectations.

Completely breathtaking!

I met this lovely couple at the bar who just so happened to be from Los Altos, California! (around 30 minutes from San Jose) We drank, talked and laughed all night! The beauty of traveling is meeting new people and let me tell you they made my last night very enjoyable!
I met so many great people during my stay in Paris! Both locals and travelers. Mostly from metro rides and restaurant hopping. The funniest moment was meeting a fellow paisano (Mexican) in the tram who laughed his butt off when I told him I was Mexican and this was mostly because he was so happy lol My stories are endless and I am just so thankful for this experience and to be sharing it with you as I go. Next up for me is Madrid…stay tuned.
